Flower Basket Brackets and Door Knob
I actually managed to make the flower basket brackets and the door knob tonight. Again, I used "super sculpey extra firm". The flower basket brackets won't actually have baskets hanging from them when the set is complete. They will be rusty and almost hanging off the wall from lack of use.
Once again, I baked all these until they turned black. It gives a nice wrought-iron look. I'm not sure it's supposed to turn black like that, but it's never caused me any bother in the past, so it works for me.

I actually really like that black wrought-iron look...and it saves time with painting! But, it looks like the flower basket brackets changed their form after you baked them. Can your oven actually re-sculpt AND bake!? :P
Hah - It seems like it - The oven baked, changed the shape, changed the colour and added texture!
It must have known what material I wanted to copy and magically worked out how to do it for me... I wonder if it would work with other materials I need to copy!? ;)
Oopsies! I just had a duh moment. At first glance I thought that the flat piece was actually rounded like the other bracket because the black was hiding it partially, I think. I see now...it does look like more texture was added though. Did you do that before you popped them in the oven? Could also just be small light reflections on the black too. Pictures can be deceiving! Right!?
Nope that texture and colour is a natural reaction when you leave the sculpey in just a bit longer than you ought to. It bubbles a little and the surface becomes irregular and, of course, it turns black.
If you leave it in even longer it eventually cracks and deforms really badly. But I just waited for it to go black, then removed it.
Gladly, the texture happens to work just right for my needs.
Cool! Well it looks awesome. I'll have to try that technique sometime using super sculpey extra firm.
